The Ron & Erma Hawkes Centre for the Arts Has Topped Off

Exciting news! The Ron & Erma Hawkes Centre has officially topped off, with the building’s structure now complete.

With more than 125,000 labour hours already invested, this milestone signals that the vision is becoming a reality. Learn more about the Topping Off ceremony here.

But this moment is about more than steel and beams.

In a recent feature, The Globe and Mail described the Hawkes Centre as a “generational project” — one defined by community engagement, municipal government support and the importance of the arts.

Our new 72,000-square-foot home draws inspiration from the Wolastoq (Saint John River), and incorporates materials that reflect New Brunswick’s lumber and brick heritage. Sustainability is also a key priority, with the project targeting an 18% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. We couldn’t be more grateful for the community’s involvement, including that of Wolastoqiyik elders, who helped ensure the building reflects the culture and values of this region.

Each milestone brings us closer to opening day. Thank you for following along as we build the next stage.
