Fall brings more progress to the Hawkes Centre

We are in the final stages of erecting the building’s structure. The third-floor slab and the steel framing for the main hall’s balcony are complete, and the slab for the stage in the main hall has been poured. With the structural steel and the fourth floor on schedule for completion this fall, the bones of the Hawkes Centre’s structure will be in place.

Later this fall, we will begin to see the envelope take shape with exterior walls, windows, and the glass installations. This will be an exciting time as we see the exterior of the building enter the landscape of the downtown.

In addition to supporting the construction of the Hawkes Centre, donations to the Encore! campaign also continued to support our programs at the Playhouse. In the last year alone, we welcomed over 3800 local students at a School Field Trip, offered more than 1400 complimentary tickets through Arts are for Everyone, and offered over 500 discounted tickets to our Spotlight Series performances with our new Supported Ticket pricing.

This fall, we will bring back our annual giving campaign, Friends of the Fredericton Playhouse, which allows us to continue offering programs that break down barriers and increase access to the magic of live performance.

It is an exciting time for the future of live performance in Fredericton and we’re happy to have you coming with us!
